We are told that the rainy, stormy, windy weather we are still experiencing here used to be normal for this time of the year in the past.A prolonged drought for the past eleven years has made most folk forget what it used to be like. A bit like England with the bad winter?.
We don't mind the rain which often falls at night as their local dam is now 96% full, it was 24% full four years ago when we were here. Grass is green and shrubs and garden plants look so much healthier for it. The water in the canal looks brown, almost chocolate coloured probably caused by the floods last week? We nearly didn't get back on the Island one day.
People here don't appear to mind getting wet, they just carry on and because it is warm they soon dry out.
Life on Bribie carries on in it's normal gentle fashion. Michael and myself went to the local cinema on Wed to see 'Blind Side'. The two cinemas have about 50 seats each, very comfy to sit on, with a place for your drink etc. Seats are stacked so that everyone has a good view, screen, sound and air con were perfect, we enjoyed the film and shall go again to see, Oh1 damm I have forgot what it is called.
We also went to see a look out point that we have seen on numerous occasions whilst driving on the motorway. We thought we could drive up to the top, wrong! It was a 700 metre almost perpendicular climb, not for the fainthearted let me say. We had a few stops to look at the spectacular views of the Glass House Mountains on the way up and loved the breathtaking views from the top. The top is a fire lookout point and has maps and markings so that firemen can pinpoint a fire from any angle. We could see Caloundra, Brisbane, Bribie and other land marks depending on what part of the compass we were on. Our legs are still a bit sore from the climb but I would do it again.
Not much else to report,
Sameer had a good birthday on the chocolate front getting big parcels from Natasha and us, he is well stocked at the moment.Sandra made him chocolate muffins which he is slowly working his way through and we went out for an Indian meal which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Football was cancelled last week due to heavy rain and a waterlogged pitch.
I can't sleep so am downstairs listening to a gale force 10 I would say.
Goodnight all.
Be kind to yourselves.

Sonia, my favorite thing about Whitefish was hiking up Big Mountain. It was so beautiful, you forgot you were actually exercising. And the icing on the cake was not having to hike back down.
