Busy,Busy,Busy.

Not counting today and the day we fly there are 16 full days left here in Blighty.
Michael goes to Lilleshall Sunday to Wednesday so will get my head down and get the last bits sorted.
S is coming up today to help me sort out the timer switches for the lights. I heard somewhere that the switches don't work with the new energy saving light bulbs we are forced to use now, so will have to look at plan 'B' if not.
It was Florries birthday yesterday so put some flowers on her grave, she would have been 94, bless her.
Did a really strong yoga class last night, it feels harder but I can do more and she is a really good teacher. I shall miss the classes and the ladies, especially the Thursday night crew. I am the oldest student on Thurs and next to the oldest on Mon and Wed the oldest lady being 79yrs. That is my ambition to be still driving and doing yoga if I reach that age?

M&P are both on strike today. The post workers are expected to work at least one and a half hours extra a day with no extra pay. They have cut the number of posties and shared their rounds up giving the people left a half a round each extra to deliver but no extra money. There are other major issues as well.
The fire brigade management have decided with little or no consultation to change the shifts of the fire fighters. They say they are going to sack them and make them sign new contracts for the new shifts. They voted to strike and I think it was 92% in favour. Many have family arrangements caring for their kids etc and are really angry about this. One top manager said on TV that it would only affect 70 days per year, that is a lot of days to rearrange your childcare. They are trying to change their job descriptions as well so they are more involved with the communities, especially on sink estates. It feels like none of it has been thought through, the ideas and comments of the fire fighters totally ignored, the usual crap management from above.

Read an interesting article about climate change, saying it is the biggest con of the century. It says the ice melt around Antarctica was the lowest recorded since satellite data began in 1979 leaving the ice 30% above its 30year average, the ice melt in the Arctic was l million square klm short of its recorded low in 2007 and was thicker. It says it is the 3rd year running that large parts of the world are experiencing abnormally cold winters with the US experiencing Oct snowfalls last year that broke records that had stood for over a century.

Swine flu is on the up here and vaccinations have started for front line workers and vulnerable people. It is hitting the young really bad and people who would have normally struggled to work are having to take to their beds they are so ill with it.
I hope we escape before it hits the elderly population. We have had our normal flu jabs so hopefully will be covered.

Have touched base with Natasha she said she was feeling cold and had layers of clothes on. They are both back full pelt into work and recovering from the dreaded jet lag. Hope to see them before we leave.

Everyone else is ok.

Have a good day.

Sonia, not sure that one flu shot covers all. The news here says that a person could catch the flu more than once this season....yikes! Not me. Stay healthy!!!

Mam, if you don't count the weekends, it's only 11 days and if you include Friday's in the weekend then it's only 9 days.
