Good Weekend

Saw Pat Saturday morning,we sorted out the paperwork. She finds it hard to sit for more than 10mins at a time but is walking better with the help of a frame. Nurse said she may be going home next week?
She said thankyou for all the good wishes sent and the nightwear S&G.
Came home and settled down for the afternoon with the paper. Dean rang and him and his girlfiend Lauren visited for a couple of hours. It was good to see them, we talked about places we had all been. They are off to Goa in March, can't wait to see them when they come back so they can give us the low down on India.
Had a text from Natasha she was exhausted from all night Irish dancing. She said Dublin was so expensive and not really worth it but the hostel was nice she was staying in.
We made a decision and booked 2 weeks in Portugal 9th -23rd, was able to get a second week at the hotel for £110 for the week which is good I think? We are going to have a taxi to take us too and from the airport in Portugal and hire a car for a few days so we can enjoy chicken and chips in Silves, a meal not to be missed.
An early night resulted in Michael being all chatty at 3am, he was able to go back to sleep I read for a couple of hours. I find I sleep for about 3/4 hours then wake up, oh to be young and sleep for at least 8.We needed to be up for our journey to Stoke which I am looking forward to.
Sunday we set off about 9-30am, it was 11deg and windy with expected sun later in the day. We travelled through Derbyshire, Baslow, Bakewell,Buxton, Leek and Stoke. We did the ring road a couple of times before we found the factory shop. It was set in a complex of old workshops and was wonderful inside. Got the bits i wanted and we set off home doing a tour of Stoke until we found our way out. We stopped for Sunday Lunch at a pub outside leek. Well Michael did a u turn after I told him I was hungry and could get quite disagreeable if he didn't stop. He didn't say a word just turned the car around headed back to the pub, he was hungry too as niether of us had eaten breakfast and it was 1pm. I work on the theory that if a pub car park is full the food is usually good and I was right. We had a wonderful carvery and shared a homemade treacle sponge and custard.
The sun was out and the road between Leek and Buxton has spectacular scenery on both sides, I hadn't been on it before. Living in a city we tend to forget what jewels we have on our doorstep and travel the world when such beautiful views are about 15miles away.
The journey was uneventful other than me having to co drive a few times when Michael didn't notice the car in front had stopped to turn right, a slap on the thigh usually worked????
Had an hours sleep when we got home and feel as fit as a fiddle. The only thing that depressed me was seeing all the walkers out there and me unable to walk a few yards without pain.
I am going to see my GP next week and ask him for a letter to see an ankle man, Michael feels I should have an ultra sound just to have a clearer picture as this has been a problem for over a year now and it does get me down.
Hope the weather is good tomorrow so we can get the front garden cut back.We should know by the end of Feb if the Turkish stuff is still on, if it is M should go out in the middle of March again.
S&G are off to Florida tomorrow so not sure when or if they will read this, hope the weather is good and the sun shines, we need it at our age, good for the bones.
Not sure if our trip can compete with walks through rainforests, wallabies and mountain views, however we could have done with the black tracker in the centre of Stoke let me tell you. We stopped and asked some passers by if they could tell us where it was, one man was probably a Kosovan and said me no speak English, the others I think were Polish and just smiled and said no before I asked the question. Oh! the changing face of Britain?
Have had to just chide Michael, he has forgotten the hot water bottles, you can't get the staff these days can you???
My last comment for anyone who remembers the Locarno at the bottom of London road? well it is now a Sainsburys Local grocery store, a new block of student flats have been built above it.
Bottles are now in
Night all

Mam, I definitely think you need an MRI/ultrascan or whatever you call them. Go easy on Michael as well.

Locarno? Did that become the Palais?

Not sure Gina, it has always been the Locarno to me. It has been closed for ages so it was good to see it up and running although in a different form. Bottom of London Rd is becoming a very student area, with lots of new accommodation being built.
I am very easy on Michael Fuad,
