The Earth Moved.

Yes it really did. I had just got to sleep when I experienced the most strange sensation which was accompanied by a loud noise. I thought someone was in the bedroom or that I was having a heart attack, it was a very uncomfortable sensation to say the least as the room and my bed shook. It wasn't until I woke up this morning and saw the TV and learnt that we had had a 5.4 on the ricter scale tremour. The centre of it was in Gainsborough in Lincolnshire but the shake was felt as far away as Aberdeen in Scotland.I remember laying there and thinking what the hell was that but as I was in my deepest sleep at the time I must have gone straight back off, I half thought I was dreaming.
A man rang the TV station and said his dog woke him 20mins before the tremour and was barking like mad trying to get them out of the house. Someone else said the blackbirds were singing loudly in his garden just before the tremour. Haven't spoke to S&G yet to see what they experienced as the centre of it was nearer to them.
Had had difficulty getting off to sleep as I got upstairs with the alarm on etc when I realised I had forgotten the hot water bottles. I was too tired to go back down so got into a cold bed, let me tell you those bottles make a huge difference. I was freezing so got out and put some bedsocks on and my Kansas winter nightie, heavy cotton, long sleeves and full length, can't beat it. I put the TV on the timer and got snuggled down when the quake happened.
It is another beautiful day, blue sky and not a cloud in sight. The wind appears to have lessened but I haven't been out yet to test it. Am going to tackle another filing cabinet drawer, I reckon if I do one a day I should get most of it sorted before Michael returns.
Telephone call from Sheila, they had both jumped out of bed after the quake thinking someone was in their house, we both agreed it must be terrifying for people in countries where they have big quakes. It was the biggest one in England for 25yrs.
Karon came over to bring me my b/card and some beautiful flowers and an orchid. She had slept through the quake probably because their house has more substantial foundations than ours?
Am chuffed to bits with my sorting, have one more drawer and the cupboard in the office to do, it looks much more tidier already.
My heel is still pain free, this is how it was before, I just got up one morning and the pain had gone.
I have some cream to put on my tooth, it is the gap between the enamel and my gum which was probably widened using the other tootbrush. It is hot liquid that causes the pain.
Had a long phone call from Fuad, covered lots of topics, had to end it as his phone battery was running down.
Had a lovely birthday meal out with Muneer, Pauline and Rachael, they were all on good form,Pauline and Rachael are going to New York for a four day shopping trip in Oct for her 21st which is in July so we had a long chat about that.
Well! am off to bed, will remember the bottles tonight and hope the earth stays still. It has just shown the quake on the news from a traffic camera and boy did it shake.
Oh! Pat is still in hospital on Firth 2.
Night all

I didn't know they had earthquakes in England. I've never experienced one but there was one in the Nebraska area several years back. My Dad was sitting at the kitchen table playing solitaire and he said he thought that there was a huge helicopter hovering over their house so he went out on the back deck and looked...nothing was there...it had been the earthquake felt in O'Neill.
